Case against human rights activist Yana Palyakova closed

In Salihorsk a court passed a decision to close the case against human rights activist Yana Palyakova.
The trial started on November 17 after a statement of a citizen A. Myadzvedzeva, who had been beaten up by Palyakova allegedly. The court admitted that the application filed by the “victim” and report drawn up by policemen have been made with violations.
As the correspondent of “Prima-News” was told in the press-service of “For Freedom” movement, in the beginning of the hearings the plaintiff resigned claims, however, examination continued and the court found that the statement of the “complainant” and reports of policemen had been drawn up with violation of procedural rules. The judge decided to close the case.
Troubles of the human rights activist from Salihorsk started when during the election campaign she decided to collect signatures in support of Volha Kazulina, a daughter of the former presidential candidate in Belarus, former political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin. There is information about two attacks against Yana Palyakova. During one of them she was beaten up by policemen. The last time the human rights activist was attacked by an unknown woman with a knife.
