A 20-person action of solidarity with political prisoner Alyaksandr Barazenka was held yesterday near the Minsk detention facility in Valadarski Street.
The action was organised by activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” and the youth organisation “Young Front”. The young people were standing near the gates of the detention facility, then at 7.40 p.m. they formed a human chain holding portraits of the political prisoner in hands. At the end of the action they shouted slogans “Freedom for Barazenka!” and “Freedom for Political Prisoners!”
Officers of the detention facility snatched some portraits from hands of the activists, demanded to disperse and threatened to call a militia squad. By that moment the action ended, and the young people went away, none of them was detained. The picket lasted from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m.
It should be reminded that activists of the campaign decided to gather near the detention facility in Valadarski Street every day at 7.00 p.m. to express their solidarity with Alyaksandr Barazenka.
“We address everyone, who is interested in Alyaksandr Barazenka’s destiny, and call on everyone to go to the jail walls at 7.00 p.m. every day. Our solidarity has already helped to release some prisoners of conscience. If express it now, Alyaksandr Barazenka will be released, too,” the youth activists say.
