Former privileged persons are banned to unite. Pensioners, physically challenged people and students, who disagreed with the anti-human law, have united in a single group to struggle for the lost social privileges. The Minsk city executive committee forbade them to gather because “holding of a meeting contradicts the Law on Mass Events”.
The disagreed with the anti-human law pensioners, disabled persons, students, workers and clerks have united in an initiative group to struggle for returning of the lost privileges, Bulletinonline writes.
Hundreds of people joined the initiative group on providing the right of a legislative initiative on introduction of changes and amendments to the Law of the Republic of Belarus on State Social Privileges and Guarantees for Certain Groups of People.
Thousands of people have supported the initiators of gathering of signatures for returning of the privileges.
– We have filed an application to the Minsk city executive committee asking to give place, comfortable for the city authorities, for holding a meeting of the initiative group. We named three places, including one outdoors, – Mikalai Pakhabau, one of the organisers of the holding of the meeting of the initiative group, says.
On 8 July,2008, an answer signed by M. Tsitsyankou, deputy head of the Minsk city executive committee, was received. It says in particular:
– Your application for holding a meeting in Minsk on 13.07.2008 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm has been considered by the Minsk city executive committee.
In the connection the filed by you application for holding a meeting didn’t met the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of 30.12.1997 No. 114-3 On Mass Events in the republic of Belarus, the Minsk city executive committee doesn’t permit holding of the meeting in Minsk on 13.07.2008 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm.
They authorities are likely to fear everyone. They probably see a plot and provocation. But not only of the opposition but of ht citizens, who were deprived of social privileges last year, the citizens, the state must take care of. First of they are pensioners, students and the poor.
