Pressure placed both on those who collected signatures and those who signed

On August 20 chief doctor of Dobrush regional hospital Ala Maskalenka summoned workers of this hospital who signed for nomination of opposition activist Adam Varanets as a candidate for deputy in Homel rural constituency No. 37.

The chief doctor told to its workers that girls didn’t have a right to give their signatures for that person, as they work in a state institution and are connected with it by labour relations, by a contract, the campaign “Human rights watchdog for free elections” inform.

Rahachou

In Rahachou constituency a pressure was put upon a person who was collecting signatures for nomination of Maxim kamarouski.

M. Kamarouski, a member of the Belarusian Social Democratic party (Hramada) was nominated in Rahachou constituency. “One person from my initiative group was pressed in order to force him to stop collecting signatures,” Kamarouski said. First it was a pressure from the administration at his working place, then a regional executive committee”. By August 18 one thousand of signatures were to be submitted. “My initiative group brought 1,002 signatures of voters to the precinct election committee,” Kamarouski said. His opponent is a candidate of the authorities, Uladzimir Mikhasyou, the head of the housing and communal department of the regional executive committee of Homel.

Zhlobin

One of the members of an initiative group in Zhlobin constituency who was collecting signatures for Valery Rybchanka, a candidate for deputy, withdrew signatures collected by him. It happened after pressure was exerted on him by the regime. The pro-regime candidate there is a production foreman of Belarusian metallurgic works Uladzimir Batan.
