Boycott banners and graffiti continue to appear all over Belarus. Youth activists from Brest and Vitsebsk have become mo reactive lately. They think the “parliamentary election” in Belarus won’t be free and democratic.

“The Brest youth has been participating in the boycott campaign for some months,” activist Yauhen tells. “I believe it is the only right strategy today. Lukashenka needs to be recognised by the West, as he understands it will be difficult to receive something from Russia. Unfortunately, even some opposition parties support the dictator by their running in the falsified election. It is a position of betrayers, and the youth understands this.

A third of candidates is represented by the opposition, though presence of opposition representatives in district election commission is 0.1 per cent. Youth activist are still caught in flats and in streets, fined and thrown to jails. How is it possible to speak about election in these conditions?

Actions calling to boycott the election are held almost every day in Brest. They include graffiti, spreading of information, stickers and leaflets. The sooner the election is, the more active we are,” the youth activist said.
