“Elections” started to remind travelling show
- 28.08.2008, 9:16
The voting day was still unknown when the chairperson of the CEC Lidziya Yarmoshyna stated that including one (!) representative of democrats to electoral commissions is a “provocation”.
The electoral campaign was just beginning, and the “elections” started to look like a farce at once. It looks like a travelling show. It is a show where one puppet master has several marionettes, writes the leader of the “Young Front” Zmitser Dashkevich.
From the very beginning the presidential administration represented by Natalya Pyatkevich announced that the regime won’t even conduct a dialogue with the opposition on the issue of the regime.
Ok, these marionettes are in the show for a long time. They cannot exist without it. But some democrats can surprise by saying “Let’s see, will this election be democratic?”
Do they need to look at something, when pro-democracy activists are arrested every day, when peaceful protesters are beaten up in the streets? Well, let you see. He that hath eyes to see, let him see. And we already see that the regime is not going to count votes of Belarusians.
That is why participation in the “elections” is not only unproductive, but a crazy affair which would allow legitimizing the self-proclaimed regime of Lukashenka.
This unconcealed farce demonstrates that the voices of Belarusians have already been stolen. And Lukashenka will count them in one case only. In case if we all would gather in the main square of Belarus, on Kalinouski Square.
That is why we are calling upon all Belarusians to boycott the pseudo-elections and gather on Kalinouski Square on the voting day. It is the only place in our county where the lies of the CEC is ineffective!
The only place where the “strong” regime turns into a weak and cowardly one!
The only place where our voices would give Belarus a hope for changes!
COME ON SEPTEMBER 28, 8 P.M., KASTUS KALINOUSKI SQUARE (KASTRYCHNITSKAYA)!
BELARUS IS WAITING FOR YOU!
