Democrats of withdrawn their representatives from

On September 1 the presidium of Homel regional and city Council of Deputies, as well as Homel regional executive committee and city executive committee applications of district commission members nominated by democratic parties, were sent. They refused to continue work in the commissions.

Representatives of the democracy parties of the 8th districts of Homel region (out of 17) have stated that the decision is connected with the fact that “the regime once again is getting ready for staging a farce with a result which is known beforehand”, “Human rights activists for free elections” campaign informs.

The document also contains substantiation of this position. “Out of 225 representatives of the oppositional political parties only 7 have become members of district elections commissions. Out of 17 contenders for candidates nominated by the parties, 12 persons are registered. Pressure is being applied on members of the candidates’ teams”.

The decision to withdraw from district commissions has been taken on August 29 at the meeting of Homel democrats.
