Lukashenka shuffles cadres

The Belarusian leader has appointed new directors of the two major Belarusian enterprises, “Belarusian Steel Works” and “Belaruskaliy”
Anatoly Savyanok has been appointed director general of the Manufacturing Corporation “Belarusian Steel Works”, “Interfax” informs.
As we have informed, earlier “Belarusian Steel Works” was headed by Mikalai Andryjanau. On April 16, 2009 Lukashenka attracted attention to the facts of corruption in Homel region. “By my order an inspection of the so-called “hunt” case has been finished in Homel region. Police chiefs and directors of large enterprises had such a hunt that not a criminal case has been opened. I won’t leap ahead, people will learn about that, but there won’t any mercy to anyone,” the Belarusian leader said.
As TUT.BY portal informed, soon after that Mikalai Andryjanau took a medical leave, and returned to the plant just to say goodbye to employees. Since July 10 Anatoly Savyanok became acting director general.
Valery Kiryjenka has become “Belaruskaliy” director general. Earlier the enterprise was headed by Andrei Bashura.
As “Ezhednevnik” informed, in January this year the office of Prosecutor General initiated criminal cases one after another against officials of “Belaruskaliy” and directors of the partner enterprises of the industrial giant. In August the office of Prosecutor General stated that there was doubt an organized criminal group acted at the plant. Its leaders were deputy head of the Economic security service of “Belkaliy” and two officials of the financial and logistical support department. Besides, directors and deputy directors of “BelRosMash” and “Elektjomashina” joint stock companies were members of the group. According to investigators, the organized criminal group consisted of 7 persons.
Today Lukashenka has also appointed Iryna Kangro Deputy Chair of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus. Vadzim Ipatau has taken the position of director of the National Centre of Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus.
New deputy heads of a number of economic agencies and the Finance Ministry have been appointed. Uladzislau Tatarynovich has been appointed deputy Finance Minister. Uladzimir Kaltovich becomes first deputy Minister of Trade. Uladzimir Dzervyankou is approved as deputy Transport and Communications Minister, Leanid Marynich is deputy Agriculture Minster. Henadz Lasuta takes the seat of deputy Emergencies Minister.
