“Narodnaya Volya”, “Nasha Niva”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus” and “Va-Bank” newspapers have been warned.
As the Information Ministry website informs, written warning to the legal entity which represents the editorial office of “Narodnaya Volya” has been issued in connection with inadmissibility of violation of article 38 of the Law on Mass media (distribution of information which is prohibited in mass media).
The editorial office of “Komsomolskaya Pravda” in Belarus” has been warned about inadmissibility if violation of articles 4 (main principles of work of mass media) and 49 (written warning). “Nasha Niva” has been warned about inadmissibility to violate article 34 (status of mass media journalist) and the Law on mass media.
The founder of “Va-bank” and the legal entity that represents the editorial office received a warning about inadmissibly of violation of articles 14 (re-registration of mass media), 38 (distribution of information which is prohibited in mass media) and 49 (written warning).
“It is written in the warning that violations of the law should be corrected within 10 days term, and the Information Ministry should be informed about that in a prescribed order,” the message of the Information Ministry reads.
As informed by the press-service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, issued warnings were a surprise for Belarusian editions.
In the editorial office of “Nasha Niva” the text of the warning hasn’t been received yet, so they do not know which articles had caused claims of the Information ministry (article 34 of the Law on mass media under which the warning was issued is “Statute of a mass media journalist”).
“Narodnaya Volya” has been warned under article 38 “Distribution of information which distributing is prohibited in mass media”. The editorial office received the text of the document which makes it clear that the Ministry found propaganda of extremist activities ion the article “Don’t hinder others to uphold freedom” (“Point of view” column, № № 169–70 of October, 29).
In the article signed by a reader Ihar Draka it is written that in case of rigging election results in 2011 Belarusians should defend their choice at the square. To gather 100,000 people on the square, the work with voters should be started now. It is also written in the article about the necessity to nominate a sinlge oppositional candidate.
The editorial office of “Komsomolskaya Pravda” in Belarus” hasn’t been told anything about the warning, referring to the fact that they had consultations. The same concerned “Va-bank”, which is a part of the same holding.
“Radio Svaboda” was told by the editorial office of “Komsomolskaya Pravda” in Belarus” only that the newspaper has become a victim of the swine flu, or to be more exact, promises of deputy Information Minister Liliya Ananich “to take adequate measures” against mass media that increase their circulation due to misinformation relating the situation with the flu, have been made flesh.
