The head of the Belarusian central election Commission says the European institutions shouldn’t buy transparent ballot boxes for Belarus.
The European institutions cannot buy transparent ballot boxes for Belarus if the opposition asks about this. This is forbidden by a decree of Lukashenka. According to it, foreign organizations cannot render beneficial help for elections. CEC head Lidziya Yarmoshyna said about this during an internet conference organized by newspaper of Lukashenka’s administration “Sovetskaya Belorussia”, Euroradio reports.
She also noted that the commission doesn’t plan a national campaign on purchasing ballot boxes.
We remind that one of the conditions to lift sanctions on a range of Belarusian officials is changes of the Belarusian Electoral Code and holding democratic elections. The European Union representatives also stand for using transparent ballot boxes.
We remind that all election campaigns held in Belarus under the regime of Lukashenka were recognized unfree and unfair by the world community. The head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna was banned entry to the EU countries and the US for rigging election results.
