Russian militia special forces to land in Belarus

The joint tactical drills of special task detachments of Belarusian and Russian interior ministries are to be held in Minsk on November 25–26.
As BelaPAN reports, the aim of the event is to develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation in training anti-terroristic forces.
30 officers of Russian militia special purpose squad “Zubr” and 5 officers of militia special purpose squad “Rys” together with representatives of the Belarusian special purpose unit and rapid response unit “Almaz” will train lifting of the blockade of buildings, neutralizing an armed criminal and releasing hostages, the information department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus reported.
According to Viktar Palei, the deputy head of the public order department of the Belarusian interior minister, the training is organized as part of the programme of the “union state” “Crime Prevention in member states of the Agreement on Union State Formation for 2008–2012”.
