Belarusians picketing UN headquarters in New York (Photo)

A picket against violation of human rights in Belarus was held near the UN Headquarters on December 6.

As the press service of the Belarusian Youth Movement of America reports, participants of the picket reminded that some events that “made turn attention to human rights violation in Belarus” had taken place in Belarus in the last few weeks. Among the events are death of distributor of independent press Valyantsin Dounar in Maryina Horka under unclear circumstances; kidnappings of youth leaders Yauhen Afanhel, Zmitser Dashkevich, Artur Finkevich, Uladzimir Lemesh, expulsion “Young Front” spokesperson Tatsyana Shaputska from university, arrest Yahor Babrou, Pavel Prakapovich, and Andrei Kuzminski who organized a performance, and other facts of pressure for political views.

More than 40 participants of the picket near the UN Headquarters expressed their support to the people, who struggle for democratization in Belarus. The picket ended in signing Belarusian hymns “Pahonay” and “Mahutny Bozha”.
