Some youth activists hung out a huge poster “No to Militia Outrage” on Independence Avenue near Chelyuskintsev Park.

“We express protest against the lawlessness in the country without the connivance of militia and other law enforcement agencies. Since the beginning of the year, we have seen gross violation of law and human rights, demonstrating that law enforcement agencies are unable to control the situation,” one of the participants of the rally said.

It should be reminded that on February 8, in Vaukavysk officers of the main department for combating organized crime of the Ministry of Internal Affaires and officers of Almaz, a special anti-terroristic group, arrested Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau, and Uladzimir Asipenka. After their apartments were searched, entrepreneurs were guarded to Minsk to a prison in Akrestsin Street. They are charged with arson of a militiaman’s house, happened 5 years ago.

Mikalai Autukhovich and Yury Lyavonau are former political prisoners, sentenced to imprisonment on a far-fetched accusation for protection of the rights of entrepreneurs. In the beginning of 2008 a measure of their punishment was changed to restriction of liberty.
