Most of European deputies speak out against inviting Alyaksandr Lukashenka to the EU summit in Prague.

It has been stated today by chairman of the European parliament’s Delegation for relations with Belarus Jacek Protasiewicz after the debate on the Belarusian question finished in Strasbourg, Radio Racyja informs.

“The progress on the path of democratization in Belarus is insufficient,” the politician noted.

The deputies have called upon the European Commission and the Council of Europe not to invite Alyaksandr Lukashenka to the summit in Prague on May 7, where the Eastern partnership program will be launched.

That’s the opinion held by the vast majority of European deputies from different parties and different countries, Jacek Protasiewicz noted.

However the final decision on invitation to the Belarusian leader to Prague is to be adopted by leaders of the European Union countries at a special session which is to take place in the middle of April in Brussels.
