“European Belarus” rally near prison in Valadarski street (Photo, video)

Participants of the rally managed to say via megaphone “We will fight for your freedom!” to political prisoners behind the bars.

On May 16 in the evening activists ofthe civil campaign “European Belarus” stood near the entrane in the remand prison in Valadarski Street unfurling the streamer “Freedom to political prisoners!” Oppositionists were holding portraits of the arrested leaders of businessmen Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka and raised a national white-red-white flag.

An activist ofthe “European Belarus” addreessed the businessmen kept behind the bars via a megaphone.

“You should know that all democratic organisations of Belarus are fighting for your freedom. You should know that not only in our country, but also abroad. “European Belarus” is proud for you, Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka!”

Participants ofthe rally also chanted loudly “Freedom to political prisoners!” and “Long live Belarus!”

Policemen arrived in 15 minutes, but detained nobody.

As we have informed, one ofthe political prisoners, Mikalai Autukhovich, continues a hunger strike of protest in the remand prison for a month. He demands to pass the case to the court or to change the measure of restraint for him and for Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka for the written undertaking not to leave the place.
