Oppositionist fined for demand to release political prisoners

On July 8, the administrative commission of the Frunzenski district of Minsk considered a report, drawn up against activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Ryhor Laurosuki.

The youth activist must pay 175,000 Belarusian rubles for hanging out a banner “Freedom to Political Prisoenrs!”, the website f-fight.org reports.

We remind that Ryhor Laurouski was detained in Minsk on May 28, 2009.the oppositionist was hanging out a banner “Freedom to Political Prisoners!” in Prytytski Street.

Another activist of “European Belarus” was detained by a militia patrol. The guys were guarded to the Frunzenski district militia department and fingerprinted. Reports for “violation of the rules of improvement of towns” were drawn up against the activists. Besides, militia seized the banner. The guys were set free after three hours.
