Moscow and Warsaw coordinate the approaches to the election in Belarus

Heads of MFA of Russia and Poland expressed their hope that the presidential election will be honest and free.

Head of MFA of Russia Sergei Lavrov, being on a visit in Poland, hopes that at the upcoming election of the President of Belarus voters will not be forced making a choice between pro-Russian and pro-West orientation of their country, RIA “News” reports.

According to his words, there are grounds to suppose that such an appeal will not be heard. “Before all it is explained by the fact that there is no discrepancy either in Europe or in Russia in the issues concerning the development and prosperity of all our common space”, — the Russian Minister said.

Lavrov also expressed the hope that the elections in Belarus would be honest and free, reminding that Minsk had invited foreign observers.

In his turn, Head of MFA of Poland Radosław Sikorski expressed the willing that this election “would go better than the previous one”. “As it is a European state, and one wants that the European standards would be applied there including the purity and transparency of the Presidential election”, — Head of MFA of Poland stated.

We are reminding that Head of MFA of Poland is intended to visit Minsk in the nearest future.
