More that one thousand people came to the meeting with candidate for presidency in Belarus Andrei Sannikov in Homel. In Zhlobin he was met with presents and flowers.
In Zhlobin more than two hundred people came to the meeting, thus having occupied the entire hall where the meeting was held. Citizens of Zhlobin met Andrei Sannikov with flowers and presented him a picture with the view of their town, “European Belarus” website reports.
The meeting lasted for about 2 hours, during which Andrei Sannikov and his election agent – famous painter Ales Marachkin told about themselves and answered the questions troubling local citizens.
“I’m not happy for myself most of all, but for the voters, who managed to meet with the candidate. The closer the election day, the more the voters are interested in Sannikov. I’m, being his election agent, addressed by phone, on the streets with offers to help or with requests to get more information about the candidate. Many people became acquainted with his program in the internet and state newspapers, and voters like it very much.
Interest to the program is first of all attracted because of the intention to become closer to Europe at last. Many people visit neighboring countries privately, as tourists, and see that European way of development is more favorable for people. At the same time, people take deterioration of relations with Russia hard. People still see a reliable partner and good friend in our old neighbor. People are really concerned that elections can be unfair. Already now many people speak out against early voting and are determined to vote only on the election day, and also to go to Minsk to stand up for their vote,” election agent of Andrei Sannikov in Zhlobin Anatol Papou said.
The meeting with voters in Homel was held in the House of Culture “Festyvalny”. The hall, meant for 900 people, was overcrowded. Many people were sitting on the stairs or standing in the gangways.
Many of those who came to the meeting spoke about lawlessness of local authorities and the police, about falsification of the election results, about huge state debt, about pressure on small and medium-sized business.
Andrei Sannikov and those who spoke from the hall were constantly interrupted by loud applauses. One of the heroes of the meeting became a man in his fifties who said that he came to the meeting despite strict prohibition of his wife, whom he is afraid much more than dictatorship.
Andrei Sannikov and Ales Marachkin had short speeches in order to leave more time to questions and answers, but those willing to ask a question or speak out about long-standing worries were so many that after the end of the meeting Andrei Sannikov continued his communication with Homel citizens in the foyer of the House of Culture, and also on the street.
“In Homel, like in many other towns, the meeting was held in a chilled cold hall. This once again confirms that Lukashenka’s regime doesn’t have money to heat houses of culture, that he doesn’t care about people who have to sit on the meeting with candidates in their overcoats. And not only meetings with candidates are held in these halls. Here children attend various circles, rehearsals of matinées are held…
Nevertheless, the meetings passed in very warm, sometimes even hot atmosphere. Meetings in Zhlobin and Homel became a real source of positive emotions. Beautiful people, open faces, burning eyes. It’s pleasant to see so many people indifferent to the future of their country, who believe that it’s time to take their future into their hands. Together with such people we are obliged to win,” shared his impressions from the meeting Andrei Sannikov.
