Belarusians picketing International Criminal Court in The Hague (Photo)

On March 19, three months after the presidential elections, the Belarusians of the Netherlands carried out an action of solidarity with political prisoners.

The action was held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in front of the International Criminal Court headquarters in The Hague. The action was attended by representatives of Kosciuszko Foundation for Support of Democracy in Belarus, We Remember civil initiative, Belarusian-European Association, representatives of the Belarusian Diaspora in the Netherlands. The participants were holding Belarusian national white-red-white flags, portraits of political prisoners and involuntary disappeared Belarusians, posters with slogans “Stop political repression in Belarus!”, “Belarusian dictator – disgrace for Europe” and others. Head of the Belarusian-European Association Zmitser Pimenau read out Ivonka Survilla’s address on occasion of the Freedom Day on March 25.

The action participants also visited the Embassy of Japan, handed in flowers to an embassy representative and lighted candles in a sign of solidarity with the people of Japan.
