Jean-Eric Holzapfel promises political prisoners will not be forgotten

The representative of the European Union has met with relatives of the political prisoners.

The European Commission’s Charge d’Affaires in Minsk Jean-Eric Holzapfel has met with Anastasiya Palazhanka, the accused in the so-called “December 19 mass riot case”, the mother of the presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, Alla, and wives of political prisoners – Volha Bandarenka, Maryna Fyaduta, Volha Nyaklyaeva.

As said by Mrs Bandarenka, the reason for the meeting was March 8, the International Women’s Day, Radio Racyja informs.

“Though it was a sunny joyful day, we were talking about things which are sad for us and our country. We were talking about our loved ones, and we are worried about every minute they spend in prison. We have expressed a request that we do not want to be forgotten, and first of all we do not want them to be forgotten.”

As said by Volha Bandarenka, Jean-Eric Holzapfel assured that the leaders and the public of the European Union countries remember the Belarusian political prisoners, think about this problem, and are tackling it, trying to find the ways to release the prisoners.
