Charter’97 website hit by DDoS attack
- 12.04.2011, 21:55
On April 12 at 2.05 Minsk time charter97.org was attacked.
The attack is continued up till now with varying intensity. The server has not been damages, however the evil-doers have managed to block the channel to the server, and access to the website is hindered.
After a few attempts to minimize the aftermath of the attack, the provider switched off the IP-addresses of the website:
"We apologize in advance because we have been forced to null route the IP 75.125.122.107 due to it receiving 4.8 Gbps of malicious traffic. It started causing an issue with our internal routers and in order to protect any other servers you may have with us as well as any other this was a needed action. We will keep this IP in the null route state until the attack has been fully mitigated. We understand this serves as an inconvenience but would appreciate your understanding."
Amid the increased attention of visitors to the tragedy in Minsk metro, we regard the attack as a desire of Belarusian special services to limit the right of Belarusians for obtaining independent information.
