Minsk city executive committee has officially banned gathering in the centre of the city.
On June 2 Mayor of Minsk Mikalai Ladutska approved the decision of Minsk city executive committee #1554 on determining the places for holding mass events in the city. By the decision of the authorities it is banned to hold mass events on October (Kastrychnitskaya) Square in Minsk, on Independence and Victory Squares, as well as in Victors’ Avenue and a part of Independence Avenue.
Besides, it is banned to hold mass events at the territory neighbouring on the National Library of Belarus, and Victory Park.
In the new statutory act of Minsk city executive committee it is stated that during mass events, security of citizens, preservation of buildings, means of transportation and other property should be ensured, as well as uninterrupted traffic and movement of pedestrians, normal functioning of organizations.
The document was included in the National register of legal acts of Belarus on June 16, and it also determined constant places for holding mass events, except for street processions and demonstrations. City authorities have assigned for such events the central scene of the Park of Friendship of nations, the summer theatre of the Recreation and entertainment park of the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution and the area near the fountain in Kyiv mini-park.
