Maryna Adamovich, the common law wife of the political prisoner, received the first letter from the penal colony in Shklou.

As Maryna Adamovich told Belsat TV, Mikalai Statkeivch writes the transfer to the colony was not hard – the road took only one night. ”He writes he adapts to new conditions. He says it’s a great pleasure to breathe in fresh air, see the sky, trees and grass,” Adamovich says adding that Statkevich describes conditions in the colony as “good”. “After six months in a cell without sun and air, even colony may seem fine,” Maryna Adamovich notes.

The woman says a date to hear a cassation appeal against the sentence to Statkevich has not been set yet. Nevertheless, judge Lyudmila Hrachova does not allow Statkevich’s relatives to see the political prisoner.

Presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich was sentenced to 6 years in a medium security penal colony. He serves his term in a colony in Shklou.
