The Embassy of Libya flies the flag of the National Transitional Council instead of the flag of Gaddafi.
The Embassy of Libya in Minsk replaced the state flag to a rebel one. The embassy staff declined to comment on the fact. A representative of the diplomatic mission confirmed in the conversation with Euroradio that the flag was replaced in the morning in view of the recent developments in Libya.
Libyan rebels fight against the regime of Gaddafi under the flag of the National Transitional Council.
The official flag of Libya is all-green.
Rebels began an operation on Tripoli in the evening of August 20, Saturday. Opponents of Muammar Gaddafi, enjoying active support from NATO, encircled the capital after taking several towns around Tripoli.
Rebels gained control over most of Tripoli on Sunday night. They managed to capture two sons of the Libyan leader – Muhammad and Saif al-Islam. Both are in custody.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) will soon start negotiations with rebels to transfer Saif al-Islam, Al Jazeera reports. Muhammad, who surrendered to the rebels, said in a TV address that the uprising in Libya had been caused by the short-sighted policy of the authorities.
The Libyan dictator is still hiding.
