Aleh Vouchak given 4 days in custody

This decision was taken by judge of the Tsentralny district court of Minsk Alyaksandr Yakunchykhin on January 30.
Vouchak was tried over article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (disorderly conduct). Police officers gave evidence that he had been swearing and swinging his arms. Vouchak did not admit his guilt. His motion to read the detention reports was dismissed. Besides, Yakuchykhin forbad audio recording of the trial, BelaPAN informs.
We remind that head of Kyiv-based NGO “Legal Assistance to Citizens” Aleh Vouchak was detained in Minsk on January 27. A policeman stopped him in the street to check his documents and detained him. The human rights activists said on the phone he was accused of disorderly conduct (article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). A police report was drawn up and the detainee was guarded to the detention centre in Akretsin Street, where he was left until trial.
Internet media report Vouchak was detained ahead of a foreign trip to take part in an international human rights meeting. He is reported to have planned a meeting with a “group of patriotic army officers”.
