The authorities of Belarus urge the UN to demand to lift sanctions imposed on the Belarusian regime.
As Interfax-West news agency learnt from the Belarusian MFA, the Belarusian delegation participated last week in an interactive dialogue with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay focusing on the encouragement and protection of human rights as part of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly.
“A representative of Belarus, counselor of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Belarus in the UN Ms Larysa Belskaya, said that Belarus observed its commitments regarding human rights in full and confirmed Belarus's readiness to interaction with human rights mechanisms of the UN, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the basis of an objective and unprejudiced approach,” the MFA press service reports.
She also called on the High Commissioner to “insist on the removal of unilateral coercive measures against all the countries, against which sanctions have been applied, and adequately respond to the actions of states that use unilateral coercive measures to put political pressure on other countries.
It should be reminded that the EU imposed sanctions on 243 individuals, including Alyaksandr Lukashenka, and 32 companies. The restrictions include the visa ban and assets freeze.
