FEMEN performance in Zurich: No to Ice Hockey World Championship in Belarus (Photo)

FEMEN activists carried out a performance near the Ice Hockey International Federation headquarters in Zurich on February 1.

Half-naked girls held hockey sticks wrapped in barbed wire and banners “Slaves cannot play hockey”, “Don’t encourage dictatorship”. “Lukashenko, let’s play at The Hague”, “Withdraw the dictatorship from Belarus”.

FEMEN demands the Ice Hockey International Federation to turn its back to the “last dictatorship of Europe” and abandon the idea of holding ice hockey world championship in Belarus in 2014.

“Belarus has dictatorship that violates the Constitution and human rights and suppresses the dissent. President Lukashenka and the government are criminals. Under these conditions, the 2014 ice hockey championship will look like the 1936 Olympics in Berlin,” the movement says.
