Lukashenka likes new Israeli ambassador

At the ceremony of accepting credentials from new Israeli ambassador Yosef Shagal, the dictator thanked his for the position the diplomat holds on Belarus.

“It seems to me we will have an ambassador of Israel to Belarus with a special attitude and a special stance.”

The new Israeli ambassador has already stated his country does not consider necessary to forward the issues on slapping sanctions against Belarus by the EU and the US.

Yosef Shagal said at his first press conference in Minsk on February 15 he did not know about political prisoners in Belarus.

Media have recently reported the new ambassador is an owner of a fish factory in Belazersk. Asked by Radio Svaboda to comment on the information, Shagal smiled: “Unfortunately, I am not.”
