Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt mentioned the Belarusian issue at a meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels.
According to him, discussions in the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) are under way, Euroradio reports.
“Repression in Belarus strengthens and we want to sharpen our instruments, otherwise we will look weak. We want sharp sanctions. Our words will look empty without them. We need sharp sanctions. If we do not impose sanctions now, we can make this decision the next month,” the Swedish foreign minister said.
