Ukhanalyou cannot travel abroad due to “civil suit”

The deputy head of the Belarusian Left Party “Fair World”, Valery Ukhnalyou, was banned from leaving Belarus due to a civil suit against him.

“I've received a paper today reading I was put on the list of people subject to the travel ban on March 5 in accordance with a decision of the Ministry of Justice. The reason is a civil suit against me,” Ukhanalyou told BelaPAN news agnecy.

The politicians does not know who sued him and on what grounds. He plans to apply to court and the Ministry of Justice in the nearest days.

Ukhnalyou was detained by Belarusian border guards on March 21 at Kamenny Loh checkpoint, when he was going to cross the Belarusian-Lithuanian border in his car. Border guards said he could not leave the country and stamped his passport with “exit denied”.

We remind politicians Anatol Lyabedzka, Viktar Karnyayenka, Syarhei Kalyakin, Stanislau Shushkevich and Vintsuk Vyachorka, human rights activists Valyantsin Stefanovich, Aleh Hulak, Harry Pahanyaila and Andrei Bandarenka, journalists Zhanna Litvina, Mikhail Yanchuk and Andrei Dynko faced a travel ban in March.
