Belarusians of Riga thanked Latvia for support of sanctions

Belarussian Coordination Centre in Riga expressed gratitude to the Government and the MFA of Latvia for support of economic sanctions against the Lukashenko regime.

“The EU visa ban on the officials at repressive structures of the authoritarian regime should be abolished only after the release and the full restoration of civil rights of all political prisoners in Belarus'. Economic sanctions against the regime of Alaksandar Lukashenka are to be gradually increased if it will continue to ignore international commitments of the Republic of Belarus' on human rights, democratic elections, freedom of assembly and information dissemination,” - said in a press release from the Coordinating Centre in Riga for Belarusian civil society.

On the initiative of the Coordination Center in Riga for Belarusan Civic Society, a special advisory group of experts, qualified Belarusan economists and policy analysts, which will be able to prepare proposals for further tougher targeted sanctions against the dictatorship in Belarus.
