United States welcomes release of political prisoners in Belarus

The US Government calls Belarus’s decision to release opposition members Andrei Sannikov and Zmitser Bandarenka a significant step.

The US urge to immediately release all remaining political prisoners.

The statement by the US Department of State says, “Enhanced respect for democracy and human rights remains central to improving relations between the United States and Belarus,” the website rferl.org reports.
