Syarhei Kavalenka receives infant formula via feeding tube

“He is fed with Bellakt formula six times a day,” a doctor says.

He began to receive food yesterday, on Sunday.

He continues to receive IV therapy. According to the doctor, his condition is “more or less normal”. His body temperature is low, blood pressure is normal. Syarhei refuses to take food voluntary. “I think he would have agreed to end the hunger strike at a hospital for civilians, but he does not trust prison doctors. We are not allowed to see Syarhei,” Alena Kavalenka told Radio Svaboda.

Bellakt is a milk formula for babies.

Syarhei Kavelenka's wife told the media on March 31 her husband's state was recognized “critical”. Alena Kavelenka did not ruled out a possibility of forced-feeding in prison without control from civilian doctors.

An activist of CCP-BPF Party, Syarhei Kavalenka, was sentenced to two years and a month in prison for violation of probation of the suspended sentence he had received for hanging out w white-red-white flag on a Christmas tree in Vitebsk. Protesting against the prosecution, the political prisoner went on hunger strike, which he has been holding since the middle of December with a 20-day break.
