Journalists will be  tried for pictures of teddy bears

A trial of a journalist of "Komsomolskaya Pravda" and a press photographer of the newspaper "Nasha Niva" will be held in Minsk.

The trial of the journalist of "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus" Irina Kozlik and photographer for the newspaper "Nasha Niva" Yulia Darashkevich, who were arrested last Wednesday, will be held in Minsk today.

"Today the court of the Sovetsky district of Minsk will consider an administrative case against I.Kozlik and Yu.Doroshkevich who were detained in Minsk during a rally", - reported in the BAJ.

The journalists were arrested on Wednesday night in the city center near the Palace of Arts during a photo session with teddy bears.

In regard to them has been filed a report on administrative offence. Journalists accused of illegal picketing under the Article 23.24 of the Administrative Code (violation of the order of organization or holding mass events and picketing). A penalty of up to 30 basic rates (1 BR = 100 thousand BYR) or administrative arrest is is provided by this article.

The police do not comment on this fact, reports "Interfax".

During July and August a number of Belarusian journalists are participating in the internet rally, taking pictures of teddy bears in support of the arrested by KGB photographer Anton Suryapin. In early July Anton posted on its website pictures of teddy bears, scattered over Minsk by Swedish airplane after an unauthorized crossing of the border of Belarus.
