Miasnikovich may be invited to Eastern Partnership summit

The Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkiavichus claims that the Belarusian Primer Minister Mikhail Miasnikovich, who is now in Klaipeda, may be invited to the summit of the EU’s Eastern Partnership in November in Vilnius, ru.delfi.lt reports.
“The relations between Belarus and the EU in the political domain are really strained. But from yesterday’s meeting with the Prime Minister I realized that they would really want to improve these relations and cooperate with the EU more closely”, - Butkiavichus said on Thursday.
“In the period of presidency may be even the issue of improving the relations between the EU and Belarus will be touched upon, but it goes without saying that Belarus must fulfill the tasks that the EU puts forward for it”, - the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister of Lithuania also stated that Belarusian government promised to preserve the transit of Belarusian cargo via Klaipeda’s port.
He noted, that such assurances he heard at the meeting with the head of the Belarusian government Mikhail Miasnikovich, which took place in Klaipeda.
“Judging from yesterday’s conversation, I understood that there were no such plans and they were ready to cooperate with Lithuania more closely, transport cargo through Klaipeda’s port”, - the Lithuanian Prime Minister said on Thursday.
We would remind that the advisor to the president of Lithuania on foreign affairs Jovita Nelupshene stated that representatives of the Belarusian regime will not be invited to the summit of the EU’s Eastern Partnership initiative, which will take during Lithuania’s EU presidency in Vilnius.
