Belarus Press Photo albums declared extremist

A court of the Ashmiany district has declared albums Belarus Press Photo 2011 extremist and ruled to destroy 41 copies of the album.

The KGB department in the Hrodna region filed a lawsuit to a court asking to declare the albums extremist. The KGB found “fabrications about life activities of the people of Belarus” in the albums.

Photographers Yulia Darashkevich, Vadzim Zamirouski and Aliaksandr Vasiukovich were summoned to a court.

Forty one albums with photos of the last year's contest Belarus Press Photo were seized at Kamenny Loh border checkpoint from photographers Aliaksandr Vasiukovich and Yulia Darashkevich on November 12, 2012.

Belarus Press Photo is the first independent open press photo contest in Belarus. The competition is held for the fourth time this year.
