The women's movement held a protest action near Lukashenka's place of staying.
FEMEN activists appeared there at midnight with torches. They had slogans “Lukashenka is cattle”, “Long live Belarus”, “Lukashenka must die”, “F*ck dictator” on their bodies, the website of the movement writes. The activists chanted slogans to support political prisoners in Belarus.
The protest action was stopped by officers of Berkut special unit, who guarded the Belarusian dictator.
“FEMEN reminds reminds Lukashenka the wild brutal harassment of FEMEN activists by the KGB in Homel in the forests in 2011. FEMEN reminds Lukashenka about beaten and repressed Belarusian heroes who called to fight against Lukashenka's dictatorship. FEMEN reminds Lukashenka about escapes of journalists who were criticizing the regime. FEMEN reminds Lukashenka about the unproven conviction and execution in the Minsk metro bombing case,” the press release of the movement says.
The activists criticised the Ukrainian authorities for their relations with Lukashenka and called to start a “psychological war with dictators”.
“FEMEN can't stand the President Yanukovych for his friendship with garbage like Lukashenka that breaks the European course of development for Ukraine. FEMEN fights for overthrowing Lukashenka, the last dictator of Europe for free Belarus without dictatorship, prisons and deaths!
FEMEN calls the world to the psychological war with dictators! Watch them night and day, don't let them act! Throw them out from each corner, from each hole.”
The movement's activists held a brave action in Minsk on December 19, 2011, on the first anniversary of the post-election protests. They were kidnapped to be found a day later in a small village on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. The activists said they had been blindfolded and put into a bus. They were taken to a forest, doused with oil, forced to strip. They were threatened with being set on fire or stabbed with a knife, which was later used to cut their hair. The Ukrainian activists were left in the forest naked with no documents and money. The girls claim the whole process was filmed. They think it was organised by the Belarusian security services.
FEMEN held other protest actions against Lukashenka and other dictators and autocrats.
