Lukashenka claimed that a special services employee was detained in Belarus, who worked for foreign states.
“Recently we detained one of traitors, who served for special services and who was linked to foreign states via representatives of the Catholic Church”, - Lukashenka told journalists on Friday in Minsk, Interfax reports.
The ruler specified, that the special services employee “did not only leak information, but people, who work abroad, suffered from his actions”. “Is this treason? Of course, it is treason”, - Lukashenka said.
Lukashenka is ready to provide Snowden with political asylum
“Why from the American point of view Snowden cannot be accused of being a traitor. Because there should not be double standards”, - he said.
“Disaster, they have publicized this topic, and, probably, Russian leadership today does not know what to with this Snowden. In the place of the Russians I would not stress and provide Snowden with political asylum”, - Lukashenka claimed.
Lukashenka explained such a position saying that America gave shelter to hundreds of Russian traitors. “How many people they have sheltered there, how many secrets took from here, how many terrorists that Russia demands to extradite, they have sheltered them there and do not deliver up”, - he noted.
“Why do you assert claims against Putin that he allegedly behaves incorrectly? He is doing it right. The political asylum should have long been provided. Then you would have known that the world is global, interdependent, and if a terrorist is in Russian, he will do something in America tomorrow. The recent facts were like that. In the place of the Russian leadership I would act more decisively in this respect, and this would be justified”, - Lukashenka said.
