Political prisoner Vaskovich congratulates journalists

Yauheny Vaskovich, who serves his term in prison No. 4 in Mahilou, wishes a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas to journalists.

His letter was published on the website of the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ).

“I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on these happy winter days. Let wisdom accompanies you everywhere. I wish you external and internal freedom and faith in your profession. Believe that the truth always wins. I wish you professional courage and firmness,” Yauheny Vaskovich wrote.

Yauheny Vaskovich, Artsiom Prakapenka and Pavel Syramolatau were tried together. Vaskovich was sentenced to 7 years in prison for an arson attempt. He tried to set the doors of the KGB office in Babruisk on fire. He was thrown into solitary cell many times. The political prisoner was transferred from a correctional colony to a prison in Mahilou for “persistent violations of prison rules”.
