The number of Russian Air Force aircraft in Belarus will be increased in 2015.
The Russian Ambassador Alexander Surikov stated that, BelTA informs.
He reminded that since December 2013 Russian fighter aircraft planes have been serving their combat alert duty in Belarus. "In 2015 it is planned to increase the number of vehicles on duty up to12 combat and 2 training planes. And the first order of four helicopters MI-8 of Army aviation will reinforce the duty in the Belarusian airspace. The Belarusian army will also receive 4 surface-to-air missile systems S-300", Alexander Surikov said.
According to him, Belarus and Russia quite successfully cooperate in military and military-technical sphere. "There are 99 of Belarusian and 940 of Russian enterprises in co-operation in the production of finished products. The share of Belarus deliveries according to the Russian defense order makes up 15%. But the Russian defence order makes up immense numbers", Alexander Surikov pointed out.
It should be reminded that in last April in Minsk Sergei Shoigu, Russian Defence Minister, unveiled the first plans to establish in our territory Russian fighter aircraft planes base. It was planned to place it in Lida (Hrodna region).
Then without any explanations the original plans were changed, and in March 2014, Russian Air Force Commander-In-Chief Colonel General Viktor Bondarev announced that by the end of this year, Su-27SM3 regiment would be deployed not in Lida, but at the airfield in Baranavichy (Brest region). But it turned out this decision was not the final one. In October it became known that Su-27SM3 fighter aircraft base will be placed not in Baranovichi, but in Babruisk (Mahileu region) and a year later of the term, which has been announced by Sergey Shoigu.
