Banks buy currency at almost Br14000 from the population

In the morning of December 23 Belarusian currency exchange offices have set a new purchasing dollar rate from the population.

BelSwissBank buy US dollar at Br13500, Technobank and Absolutbank buy at Br13760, Priorbank gives Br13770 per dollar, MTB Bank pays Br13885/$1, BIT Bank buy currency at Br13900 per $1, "Salidarnasts" writes.

At the same time, dollar selling rate has remained the same (Br11140-11145 + 30% exchange fee).

It should be reminded that on Monday evening it was reported that the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus had recommended banks to buy foreign currency at the price 5% lower than the real selling rate. The rate is fixed at Br14490 per dollar (with allowance for 30% exchange fee).

It is made to encourage people to sell dollars and euro at the currency exchange offices, where the shortage of foreign currency is observed.
