Six fighter jets Su-27 and three military transport planes of Russian Federation’s air forces have landed at an airdrome in Babrujsk.
According to BelaPAN, on 13 March six fighter jets Su-27 and three military transport planes of Russian Federation’s air forces, which are a part of the aviation units of Russia Armed Forces’ Western Military Region, have landed at an airdrome in Babrujsk (Mahilou region).
Lukashenka claimed on 12 March at a meeting of the Security Council that Belarus will offer Russian to deploy additional 15 jets in its territory due to NATO’s activities close to the country’s border.
“Lately we have observed the escalation of the conflict. It is taking place not in Syria or Libya, not in Iraq, but at our borders. This gets our interests involved, and we have no right to hide like mice”, - Lukashenka said.
“We will adequately react to everything. If NATO took a decision to build-up air forces together with Americans at our borders, should we just observe that? If they have relocated additional 5 fighter jets and some other planes and those are active at our borders we will act adequately. We already are. The Defense Minster has long been tasked with that and the order is being carried out, according to his reports”, - Lukashenka claimed.
According to him, the Belarusian party reacted to the situation calmly “until large scale military exercise started in the territory of Poland, and Poland requested reinforcement of the scale of the exercise”. “Hence the question – what for? Why, when not all is peaceful in the region as it is? Moreover, yesterday at night or today in the morning, according to my information, additional jets were deployed (after jets relocation from Great Britain to Lithuania), over 10 of those from Italy. Present is the aggravation of the situation at our borders”, - Lukashenka said.
“We should react to that, but in an absolutely adequate manner, - he emphasized. - This is not a secret that together with Russia we have a joint military grouping on that direction, the basis of which is Belarus’ army”, - Lukashenka said. At the same time he reminded of the existing agreement in the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. “This grouping has an action plan, including a plan of action in similar cases”.
