“Is situation as bad in Minsk as in our town?”

Dwellers of Belarusian provinces are in perplexity after the recent disruptions at the Belarusian economy.
A dweller of Lida, who wants to stay anonymous, has sent a letter to “Salidarnasts” newspaper.
“The prices have started to grow right before our eyes. There were certain prices on Sunday, and yesterday the prices were completely different. We visited Evroopt shop. Some products have grown by almost Br 3,000. Butter, rice, buckwheat have become more expensive.
And the choice is not as wide as before. There is only one type of buckwheat (previously there were 5 sorts). In usual shops there are 2-3 sorts of cooked sausage, and the rest of the counter is empty. Is the situation as bad in Minsk as in our town?
My husband works as a builder. Just a few months ago his wages were about Br 10 mln. In December the wages were 3 mln! And he worked on weekends as well! But I receive the same sum as an allowance for my child. It is ridiculous. When have builders received such pays?!
We have two children. I am paid an allowance for my daughter, and the elder son does not go to a kindergarten, otherwise we would have to pay 600,000 per month for food, physical training and music lessons. It’s better to carry out development lessons at home for him, than to pay good money.
The president says: please bear children, we will care for you. Well, we have two children, where is help? We rend a flat, we cannot build our own accommodation. Banks give loans at 60%. And without a loan it’s so difficult to buy a flat.
By the way, as before, there is no foreign currency in banks,” the woman writes.
