Non-residents withdraw $844.3 million from Belarusian banks

Almost half of a billion dollars was withdrawn in December.

As of January 1, 2015, the amount of foreign currency raised by Belarusian banks from non-residents fell by $844.3 million (10.4%) to $7,252 million in comparison to 2014, AFN reports.
The outflow of funds of non-residents was $446.4 million (5.8%) in December against $77.1 million (1.0%) in November.
As of January 1, 2015, the amount of funds raised from non-residents in Belarusian rubles increased by Br408.8 billion (49.2%) to Br1240.4 billion in comparison to 2014. The funds of non-residents in Belarusian rubles decreased by Br437.2 billion (26.1%) in December after a growth of Br13.7 billion (0.8%) in November.
Non-residents' funds in liabilities of Belarusian banks were 18.1% on January 1, 2015, against 19.7% on January 1, 2014.
In 2013, funds of non-residents in foreign currency in Belarusian banks rose by $2061.6 million (34.2%) to $8096.3 million. The amount of funds in Belarusian rubles raised from non-residents increased by Br122.5 billion (17.3%) to Br831.5 billion.
Experts say a pyramid scheme was constructed in Belarus.
