The deputy of the German parliament, Bundestag, has wished merry Christmas and a happy New Year to the family of Alinevich.
Parents of the political prisoner Ihar Alinevich received seasonal greetings from Marieluise Beck, who is a member of Bundestag Committee on International issues since 2005.
She is also an expert of the Alliance '90/The Greens group in the Bundestag on Eastern Europe. In her statement about guardianship over the political prisoner in 2012 Marieluise Beck said that he had been kidnapped by the unknown while he was in Moscow and was taken to the KGB of Belarus, and that unlawful physical and psychological methods were used against him during interrogation, and that during the trial which sentenced the young man to 8 years of imprisonment, serious violations of constitutional principles were observed. “I demand release of Ihar Alinevich and a fair investigation of his case,” she said. Earlier Marieluise Beck was a guardian of a political prisoner, a former candidate for presidency Andrei Sannikov.
“I would like to wish Ihar a bright Christmas and all the best in the new year. Please pass my greetings to Ihar and tell him that we will not forget him. I wish you, our family and Ihar’s friends lots of energy, in order to overcome this hard situation. I hope that our efforts will result in a situation in Belarus soon when no one would be deprived of freedom for their opinion, wishes and political views,” she wrote.
We remind that Ihar Alinevich, an activist of anarchist movement, was sentenced to 8 years of detention for hooliganism against official buildings. The political prisoner pleaded not guilty. Earlier he served the sentence in the penal colony in Navapolatsk, which considered the worst one according to the ecological situation, however in the beginning of the last year a decision was adopted to dismiss that colony. Alinevich was transferred to the penal colony Vitsba-3.
