Only continuing of sanctions against Moscow could influence changing the policy of Russia towards Ukraine.
This statement was made in Warsaw during the press-conference on the topic of the Crimea’s occupation by Polish Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Arthur Nowak-Far, Ukrinform writes.
“Continuing the policy of sanctions is the best way to change the conduct of Russia,” Nowak-Far said, adding that it is the position of the Polish foreign affairs ministry, as it had been stated by the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Poland Grzegorz Schetyna.
The Polish diplomat called the occupation of the Crimea an obvious violation of the international law. “It was the first case in the world after the Second World War, when one country occupied a territory of another one,” he stressed.
As said by him, the argument concerning the Crimea’s occupation used by Moscow is the right of peoples to self-determination, is unsubstantiated.
He also dismissed claims of Moscow that independence of Kosovo was announced in the same way.
“The situation in Kosovo was completely different. In the case of Kosovo lives of citizens of the province was at risk. It is not the case of the Crimea for sure,” noted the deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Poland.
