Russia forms motorized rifle brigade near Belarusian borders

The Russian Defense Ministry will form a new separate motorized rifle brigade in the Smolensk region.

The unofficial blog of the Russian Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST) informs.

It is planned the new brigade will be formed in 2015 in Yelnya, Smolensk region.

Also the RF augments the grouping on the borders of Ukraine - 33 separate motorized rifle (mountain) brigades are redeployed from the Caucasus to Rostov region, a separate motorized rifle brigade No. 9 is redeployed from Nizhny Novgorod to Boguchar, Nasha Niva reports.

The Staff of the 20th Guards combined-arms army which brings together the main forces of the Western Military District of RF will also be located in Voronezh.
