Yury Rubtsou is in a remand prison

Yury Rubtsou is taken into custody.

On April 6 he was placed in the Pruzhany remand prison. Viasna civil rights activists refused a local lawyer and went on a hunger strike. Also he declined to testify investigator Volha Baradouskaya conducting his criminal case.

Perhaps on Thursday the political prisoner will be formally charged. Afterwards, Rubtsou will be transferred to the nearest remand prison, probably in Baranavichy.

On April 6 Yury Rubtsou was taken to the Investigative Committee of Pruzhany allegedly for investigation. Against the political prisoner was initiated a criminal case under Article 415 of the Criminal Code (avoidance of serving punishment). He faces up to 3 years in prison, Radio Svaboda reports. The Article implies penalty for deprivation of liberty for up to two years.

On October 6, 2014 Tsentralny District court sentenced Yury Rubtsou to a year and a half in an open type institution No. 7 under Art. 391 (insulting a judge or people's assessor). December 22, 2014 he was transferred to Kuplin village, Pruzhany district.
