The leading international publication wrote about a large-scale protest rally in Brest.
“Over a thousand protesters against the tax on "parasitism" marched through the central streets of the Belarusian Brest and blocked traffic on the main avenue of the city," – the BBC reported yesterday.
Protesters shouted "Basta!", "Lukashenka, go away!" "We don’t want to pay to thieves, parasites, and cops", "No salary – there is a tax, replenishing a deputy’s purse", “The real parasite is the one who has invented the decree."
Some of the participants of the unauthorized rally - about 150 people - agreed to go to the local administration to meet with Mayor Aliaksandr Ragachuk.
However, over a thousand people, led by local anarchists, marched through the main streets and blocked traffic on the main avenue of the city - Masherov Avenue, - for a short while.
Car drivers supported the marchers with salutatory signals.
The police did not intervene in the unauthorized protest.
