Lukashenka Regime Blocks Independent Website Charter97.org In Belarus
- 24.01.2018, 19:01
The website Charter97.org has been blocked in Belarus.
Our readers from the whole of Belarus keep informing that there is no access to the website. The blocking is conducted by practically all operators in Belarus. Some providers, Atlant Telecom in particular, inform the following:
“If you are seeing this message than the address you were trying to reach is on the limited access list in accordance with the Decree #60 of the president of the Republic of Belarus dated February 1, 2010; the resolution of the Operative Analytical Center under the aegis of the president of the Republic of Belarus # 4/11 dated June 29, 2010; the Decree #6 of the president of the Republic of Belarus dated December 28, 2014; and the resolution of the Operative Analytical Center under the aegis of the president of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of communication and informatization # 6/8 dated February 19, 2015.
Blocking of the most viewed independent website is yet another blow against the freedom of speech in Belarus. For 20 years, the authorities tried to defeat us, using various repressions: from blocking to arrests and murders of the journalists. We will defend the website of the Charter’97 by any possible means, also at the international level.
We are calling on our colleagues-journalists, human rights activists, our readers to show solidarity. We also ask to spread information about the blocking of the website Charter97.org as broadly as possible.
Please see the instruction on how to overcome blocking of the Charter97.org.
